Munich Mash
After a spectacular premiere at Munich Mash 2018, Red Bull Roller Coaster is set to return to the terraces of Munich‘s Olympiapark this year on June 29. Combining elements of transition and street skateboarding in a unique downhill slopestyle course, Red Bull Roller Coaster will once again determine who really is the most versatile skateboarder and brings the best of both worlds. While staying true to the original course design that provided a challenging playground for the riders, the innovative layout of Red Bull Roller Coaster will be carefully tweaked and extended in 2019 to create a smooth line with exciting new features and trick options. The 2018 edition of the event saw American skater Jake Ilardi deliver a full-throttle assault. The 22-year-old Floridan nailed an incredible line with a Cab Heelflip Indy on the rainbow ramp, followed by a perfect Bigspin Frontside Boardslide down the rail with only seconds to adjust his feet. He went on to hammer a full-speed Backside 360 Tuck-knee with massive airtime over the Wipeout Watergap only to shut the place down seconds later with a huge Bigspin Flip Indy on the Highstriker Quarter. Ilardi is going to return to Munich this year to defend his title of Most Versatile Skateboarder. “I love the concept of Red Bull Roller Coaster," he says. "It’s a perfect mix of street, transition and cruising down a snake run. Super fun! Winning the first edition in 2018 was unexpected and pretty crazy, so I'm looking forward to come back to Munich this year." He'll be joined by last year’s finalists Danny León (of Spain) and Alex Sorgente (USA) as well as female pro skaters Fabiana Delfino (USA) and Dutch skater Candy Jacobs to compete against the soon-to-be-announced new entrants that include 16-year-old young gun and Toy Machine rider CJ Collins (USA) as well as Liam Pace (USA), who scored a wildcard to the event at this year‘s Simple Session. Red Bull Roller Coaster is free to attend. For those unable to make it on-site, the finals will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV.
